Forbes’ annual list of America’s 60 wealthiest and most successful self-made women entrepreneurs was released featuring 2 Indian women! The list refers to the women as having “crashed ceilings through invention and innovation”.
Neerja Sethi (61), who co-founded IT consulting and outsourcing firm Syntel with her husband, is ranked 16th while president and CEO of Arista Networks Jayshree Ullal (55) is ranked 30th on this prestigious ‘America’s Richest Self-made Women’ list.
Sethi’s net worth is $1.1 billion and her company employs over 25k people with a reported market cap of $3.6 billion. Since the company launched, she has been the vice president of corporate affairs and she sits on the board of directors as well.
London born, New Delhi bred, Ullal’s net worth is $470 million. She became president and CEO of Arista Networks in 2008, when it hardly had any revenue and barely 50 employees. Last year, the company reported $838 million in revenue after going public in 2014.
Kudos to these women for being trailblazers for South Asian women everywhere. They held their own accompanied by the likes of Oprah, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, Beyonce and the youngest on the list, Taylor Swift. Oh and incase you’re wondering, the richest is Diane Hendricks, owner of ABC supply, the largest wholesale distributor of roofing and siding in the country.
